Melbourne Formulae 1 (2010)

As everyone might have known, I had been working at the 2010 Grand Prix Melbourne from 26th to 28th March. It was a weekend of total joyous hectic-ness. *notice the little sarcasm* My initial hours were 8 everyday from 11a.m. to 7p.m. of which when multiplied with $17/hour it will sum up to $408. Just nice for my Sydney trip although I might need to top up a little more.

BUT.. on the day prior to my commencement I received this VERY urgent call from the event company. I was at my Accounting class that time doing a tiny revision test hence didn’t pay much attention to whatever the caller said and dumbly said ‘yes’ to her every command. The only thing I recall was that I need to check my e-mail once I reach home. ABSOLUTELY stupid of me to do so.. I know. As I reached home, opened my e-mail, my jaw nearly fell down. (0.0) My hours had been increased to 12 hours everyday!!! 12 freaking hours!! Like 12 hours!!! Seriously!!

For a moment I had this panic attack which made me scream out unheard agonies. Then my accounting mind took over and I quickly took out my long-time friend, the calculator. (I AM in Accounting) Tik tok tik tok and a new sum are out! $612!! Now.. who would say no to $612?? How bad can 12 hours be anyway?? *I found out eventually that it is wrong in every single way*

The next day, with just a mere 4 hour sleep (I was too excited) I woke up at 4 a.m., prepared myself and reached there on dot at 7.30 a.m. =)

Strangely I wasn’t allow to clock in and they transferred me into another zone where I overheard one of them saying, ‘Yeah, I’ve brought her to replace the parking attendant’.. WTH??!!! #$%^&*() PARKING ATTENDANT??? 12 HOURS???? Are you out of your frigging mind??!!! I was literally sobbing at that time. Imagining myself under the hot sun wearing the neon jacket and cap while pointing right and left.... =(

But just as I was about to accept my bad luck, this nice lady came to my rescue and said that the Paddock Club main entrance is lack of a girl and they need one ASAP. Which is coincidently me!! Hahahahahahaha!! Goodbye car parks and ALOHA to Paddock whatever~~ (I have no idea what’s a Paddock Club at that time)

I soon realised that there is where all the celebrities and drivers passed by. That is probably the only interesting part of those 36 hours. And my job? A friendly and vocal face. “Hi Sir!, How’re you doing?, GOOD MORNING!!!, Hello” are greetings for the day while “Goodbye, Goodnight, See ya!, Have a nice evening” are for later. By the end of the 1st day, my leg is crying out in pain. 2nd day my face starts to trembles. On the last day, I seriously think that the fake smile is actually my original face not to mention serious FACE CRAMPS!!

My legs? Don’t let me start talking bout it.. You can chop off my limbs and I won’t even feel a thing!! 36 hours on concrete is crazy! Bloody painful!!

Yes, I do have breaks every 2 hours or so but you never know how hard it is until you try it out. Even worse when I’m not allowed to move from my station!! I’m supposed to stand there like a statue!! >.<

Anyway it’s totally over right now and thanks to the tormenting 36 hours, I can enjoy my trip without worrying a single bit. Plus, it is a good point in my resume and I manage to meet some new friends as well.

Cheers! ♥

Chis!!!

Moga-moga mereka tak tanslate semua ini ya.. hehehe. Habislah reputasi saya yang cantik tu. LOL!

Updates from home.

I was at my parents’ place last week, the condo beside the beach. Being a sea person (or air since I rather like flying as well..), that condo is the best house my parents ever stayed in! With the adequately spacious balcony, we can easily stand outside from morning to enjoy the sea breeze, evening to see the sun set and night to stare up at the billions of starts shining above. Or even look down at the swimming pool to see some Ang Mo co-pilot swimming around. (^-^) *That if the day had been reasonably clear.*

Anyway, back to the topic. On one fine day, Mom suddenly asked why aren’t there any blogs since I’m back and it made me realise something... she’s probably my No.1 fans! Hahahaha! As a matter of fact, I had been pretty busy, as usual. All the yam cha session and most importantly accompanying my dear Pui Yeng at all times, should she needs me. Sounded like I am her nanny.. =.=”

But no worries, she had been handling rather well. In fact, I dare say that my little Pui Yeng has now grown up to the adult Jean! Be it forcefully or naturally, she had matured to a tremendous level. And like a nanny.. I’m so proud of her. Hehe. So the next time, anyone decided to ask me to take care of her or anything, please bear in mind that she is well aware to take care of herself. And if anyone dare say that she’s like a child, then perhaps you don’t know her at all.

Other than that, please let me complain a little. My subjects timetable clashes!!! NNOOOO!!! That leaves me with 2 choices; a) change my unit (loads of procedure to go through & I’ve planned my course structure so well that it breaks my heart to re-do it) b) continue with the units and had to listen to e-lecture everytime (e-lecture is recorded lectures which are uploaded into the net for students to re-listen the lectures.. not a bad idea but... I like personal touch). I have yet to decide as all my documents are left in Melbourne. Guess I will have to take a look at the course plan again.. =(

Oh yeah, Terence is now in Melbourne! I am positively sure some will say that I am a horribly lucky girl to have my boyfriend in the same state as I am. Hehehe. Let’s just hope you are right.

♥Muackz!
